Recently in a meeting with NSO the possibility of continuing NL-RIA’s radar altimeter development was discussed. The primary aim would be to raise the TRL level of the radar design from currently 2-3 to at least 6. If this is successful we could aim at a space qualified design and find a launch opportunity, budget permitting (if we can find the financial support) even a complete constellation, to be operational in approximately 6 years from now.
Apart from maturing the radar design the project will also focus on identifying the key application (e.g. ocean monitoring, coastal monitoring or hydrology) and detail the roadmap towards an operational system.
